Confessions of a Window Dresser
photo

I found this dress a few months ago in an unexpected corner of town. In my mind I could see the potental giant moths destined to fly around that place and devour all things tulle and sacred. I had to take it home.

The next part is the confession. I did not put it in the office on the "photograph and sell" rack. I did not tuck it away in the "save for party season" box. I hung it in my bedroom window, where the morning sun would catch it just right, where I would be sure to see it first thing in the morning. It was there for a month.... or two

This week I decided to sell it to help raise a little vacation cash.. sighhh. I'm doing the right thing.

Right?

Fitting Right In!

They noticed. When I moved here it was noticed, probably remarked upon. I drove a late model Volvo with a mermaid painted on the hood right into the Piggly Wiggly parking lot. Most days I look like an extra from the 1967 film Bonnie and Clyde. In a place where the height of fashion is a particular brand of T shirt in your choice of flourescent hue with cutesy sayings about being a southern girl I couldn't begin to blend.

I often get comments on from folks about the Vintage I sell

That looks good on you, you should keep it!

..but the cows are rarely impressed by my fashion sense.

..I'm learning to love this place, the people, and the great stuff I find around here!
